When a fall occurs, the sudden stop caused by the fall generates a high impact force, the greater free fall distance the higher the force. The purpose of the shock absorbing device is to reduce this impact force to 900 lbs. (4 kN.) or less by extending the deceleration distance. We offer two types of lanyards: shock absorbing and work positioning. All of the lanyards we feature meet and exceed ANSI and OSHA standards.

Only shock absorbing lanyards can be used for fall arrest.

Stretchable Shock Pack Lanyard.

This style of shock absorber has the same features as the Classic Standard Shock Pack with the added benefit of an elasticized web lanyard. Only 4 1/2' long when relaxed, this shock absorbing lanyard can stretch up to 6' and this flexibility reduces the chance of tripping or snagging while working arround the job site.

Shock Absorbing Lanyard (no pack).

This is the second generation of shock absorbers that eliminates the use of the classic shock absorber pack. The lanyard is composed of a specially woven inner core of material and an outer structural tubular sheath webbing. The core webbing reacts to a sudden stop by stretching and the tubular sheath provides extra strength and acts as wear and back up protection to the core webbing.

Once in proper work position these lanyards are used in conjunction with the side D rings on a harness to allow hands- free operations.
